ONESIXTYONE PROMOOnline announcement of troupe name change
|
|
"This spot was made to introduce the troupe's name change from Mainstage to onesixtyone near the end of 2005. The original idea called for the new name to be carved out of foam in big block letters so that we could have it show up in odd places and creep cast members out... taking a shower and panning over to find the name there, looking in the rear view mirror and seeing the name in the back seat... that kind of thing. When the letters proved too tough to build the way we wanted them (and in the time we had to work with), Mark Chalfant and I cooked up a bunch of scenarios where we could use the numbers 161 instead. I knew I wanted the clock gag and the bowl of cereal no matter what, and both of those turned out to be the toughest shots to get... I sorted through two boxes of Alphabits in order to find letters that were readable, and had to slice up the 12:00 static sticker that came with our digital clock in order to make them both work. Mike Bass and I split the scenes up and shot them all during one Sunday afternoon... I edited the spot that same night. For all of the scheduling and planning and procrastinating we always end up running in to for most of our video projects, it was nice to crank the whole thing out in one weekend and remind ourselves that we can work fast and still come up with results that we're pretty happy with." -Tyler Korba | Director |
